Yanming Chen's Team Completes Double-Blind, Randomized, Placebo-Controlled, Phase 1 Trial Of Human Gingiva-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells (Gmscs) For Type 1 Diabetes
Recently, a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled, phase 1 trial of human gingiva-derived mesenchymal stem cells (GMSCs) for the treatment of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) was officially accepted by the internationally renowned medical journal Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy (dual Q1, IF 81.2). The trial was jointly led by Professor Yanming Chen, President of the Eighth Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University (EAH-SYSU) and academic leader of the Department of Endocrinology at the Third Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University, and Professor Zhengguo Song’s team, the Songjiang Laboratory for Innovative Immunotherapy, Songjiang Research Institute, Institute of Cell and Gene Therapy, Songjiang Hospital Affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. This study completed the world's first randomized double-blind placebo-controlled Phase 1 clinical trial of GMSCs for the treatment of T1DM, providing high-level evidence for the application of GMSCs in the treatment of T1DM.
