The Department of Cardiovascular Surgery of The Eighth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University is equipped with general wards and an Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The department consists of 24 dedicated staff members, including 8 physicians, 15 nurses, and 1 perfusionist. Among the medical team, there are 2 senior titles, 4 intermediate titles, and 18 junior titles, as well as one doctoral tutor and one master's tutor. The department is led by Professor Yang Yanqi, the Chief and Academic Leader, who is a member of the European Society of Cardiology and the Swedish Medical Association. 

The department specializes in a wide range of cardiovascular surgeries, including aortic dissection surgery, critical heart valve replacement, heart valve repair, coronary artery bypass grafting（On-pump and Off-punp）, ventricular aneurysm resection, cardiac myxoma resection, surgical treatment of infective endocarditis, congenital heart disease surgery, and surgical treatment of vascular diseases such as great saphenous varicose veins. The department is known for its expertise in managing complex and rare heart surgeries, having pioneered new techniques like coronary artery reconstruction, which are recognized internationally.
