Orthopedics is the Guangdong Provincial Clinical Key Specialty, Shenzhen Key Cultivating Medical Discipline (Spinal Surgery), the Chairman Unit of the Department of Orthopedics of the Guangdong Medical Association and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Orthopaedic Alliance, the only Pilot Unit of Orthopedics in Rapid Recovery Surgery in Shenzhen identified by the National Health Commission, and the Convening Unit of the National Orthopedics and Sports Rehabilitation Clinical Research Center in Guangdong Province.
Departmental Leadership
Professor Wang Peng, discipline leader and head of the department, is introduced from Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University (National Key Clinical Specialty). He serves as a Standing Committee Member of the Orthopaedic Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and the Chairman of the Orthopaedic Branch of the Guangdong Medical Association. He is an expert with special allowance from the State Council, and a national leading talent in Shenzhen, with honorary titles such as “Excellent Head of Clinical Department of Guangdong Province” and “Excellent Doctor of Shenzhen”.
Research and Achievements
Over the past five years, the department has secured over 10 national and provincial research grants, with total research funds reaching over 20 million. More than 60 high-impact SCI papers have been published in leading journals.
Medical Subspecialties and Services
The department consists of five subspecialties/divisions: Spinal Surgery, Bone Tumor and Osteopathy, Traumatic Orthopedics, Joint Surgery and Sports Medicine. It has 144 beds and a team of over 90 medical, nursing, and research professionals.
